The boys went hunting over the weekend. Abigail and I stayed behind for swim practice. Oh, who's kidding who?! We stayed behind for chick flicks and mani-pedis and indoor plumbing!
Brunch, complete with hot chocolate, is the perfect way to warm up after a cold Saturday morning practice. Kerbey Lane pancakes are one of our favorites!
We tried to shop a little in downtown Austin, strolled Guadalupe shops for a bit... Really, it was just cold and we had to get our mani-pedis and get home to a fire and fleece pajama pants!
The boys returned just in time for New Year's Eve and it was a good thing! They were just in time for... well, nothing. We did nothing. If it hadn't been for swim practice every day, we probably would have never left our pajamas, couch and fireplace. Apparently, watching Abigail's swim practice New Year's Eve morning wore us out. We spent the evening with a veggie platter, fruit tray, cheese ball and pizza. The most activity was me and my seam ripper.
Abigail recently joined a new swim team and we have yet to replace all of her embroidered swim gear. "Fortunately", she lost her parka a few weeks ago so I was only left with her gear bag to rip out every thread of the former team's logo. A new bag has been left with our embroidery friend, but I didn't want her to go to a meet with the wrong logo displayed. I know you're jealous that your NYE plans didn't include a seam ripper!
New Year's Day was almost as exciting as NYE. Again, if it hadn't been for swim practice, we'd have never left the couch. The kids did better than Daniel and I when they broke out Twister and attempted to contort and twist into fun.
Wednesday was a bit more eventful... It's a wonder we were able to get ourselves together after all the NYE excitement, but we made it! We met our favorite Maggie from South Carolina down in Austin at the Hula Hut. Shrimp enchiladas and good friends make for a fun day, even when it is cold enough for long johns under our clothes!
Thursday was even more exciting because we jetted down to San Antonio to see our favorite new gaduate from Air Force basic training! Kevin wasn't free to leave the base yet, but the kids were super excited to see all the planes, people in uniform and especially go bowling on base. Forgive the red eye and creepiness of the pic as we were in the dark with black lights and laser lights because who would bowl in a well-lit room?! Not us!
Friday morning brought serious business as Abigail began a three-day competition at UT. It was a blast to watch her compete in this meet that she has never qualified for. There were teams from across the country and great swimming on display. My baby was one of them! Friday night was her best swim of the weekend as she won her 10 & Under final for 100 Fly. Yeah, she's 8 years old and kicked those girls' butts! She's in lane three (third from the top of the screen). Enjoy!
