I am a political junkie so I loved this movie. The setting is post Watergate and a British talk show host conducts a series of TV interviews with Richard Nixon. If that sentence doesn't intrigue you as much as it did me, don't rent this film. However, if you crave politics, get it.
Daniel was bored throughout the film and didn't enjoy one bit of it, but I thought it was a great movie. Now, I want to find a way to see a copy of the actual interviews with Frost and Nixon.
One thought I had at the end of the film is, "Where did political corruption begin?" My politically-current and politically-cynical mind thinks that politics can not exist without corruption. But, this movie made me consider that there was a time when the two did not go hand in hand. Whether it started with Nixon or someone before him, I think Nixon is the reason people like me think that every politician is somehow corrupt. That's an unfortunate legacy for someone who rose to the position of President of the United States.

I have been dying to see this movie! I obviously heart politics if I am willing to get my PhD in political science so I will for sure add this to my list since you also liked it. My personal thought is that the vast majority of people really do get into politics for the right reasons. BUT - power corrupts and 99% of the people who got into it to really help and make the country better aren't ready to deal with the pressure, ultimately don't have a spine and cave to power and corruption.
I want to see this movie. I'm all about stuff like this.
I don't know...sometimes I think they've all been corrupt....it's all about making a deal behind closed doors. Guess I'm just synical about the whole process!! Seeing some of the stuff that goes on just in our state and these guys that come in our office....makes it hard to like any of them.
